I have a 97 honda accord ex with a 4 cyl v-tec engine and there is pressure where my oil is. is this normal?

My water pump went out and while i waschecking out the engine i took the valve cover to the oil off and put my hand over the hole and felt pressure. Is there something wrong or is this normal for my model? Please I am a single mother and I have no clue about cars.
