Get married privately and have the ceremony later?

My boyfriend and I have a 10 month old daughter together and we are expecting our son in late January 2010. We were thinking of getting married in the courthouse within the next few weeks and then waiting until summer to have a ceremony after I've had the baby and it's nice again outside. Is this a good idea or no?
