My 22 month old daughter does not talk very much.?

I am the father to a beautiful 22 month old girl who I love and adore very much. Lately I am getting concerned that she is not talking as much as I would like her to. I work in health care (laboratory medicine) so of course I see all the horror stories. She is an only child and is home with mom all day and she only says about 8-10 words...and those seem to be random more than anything....all though I can ask her the most complex question and she point to the answer or do what I ask no matter how difficult....Last night I said to her "Can you put daddy's wallet on the desk? and she promptly walked down the hall and put it on the desk....but If I said "Wallet" over and over she would just stare at me like I'm an idiot. She also points and whines and just in the last 3 weeks started grabbing my hand and walking me to the fridge to get something......I read to her religiously since she was born and I have always been the best father I can be from the day she was born. Any Ideas?
