My mom's blood pressure worries me?

My mom's blood pressure is really high, and she also haves high cholesterol. The doctor prescribed calcium pills. But she says that somebody told her that the reason why her blood pressure is more high than usual is because of the calcium pills. Is that possible does anybody know? And what can she do.
